Every consultant does it. Almost none of them were taught how. The result is process documentation that misses critical edge cases, future-state designs that ignore system constraints, and configuration decisions made without a shared understanding of what the business actually needs. Rework in the build phase is almost always traceable to inadequate process design. This course teaches business process mapping as a structured discipline: how to prepare and run a requirements workshop that produces genuinely useful output, how to document current-state processes at the right level of detail, how to design future-state processes reflecting both the business requirement and Oracle Fusion capability, and how to translate the process design into configuration specifications that an implementer can act on without further clarification. We use real Oracle Fusion functional areas as the basis for all exercises: a procure-to-pay process for a manufacturing organisation, a hire-to-retire process for a services firm, and an order-to-cash process for a distribution company. Participants leave with a process mapping methodology and template set they can use on their next engagement immediately. Current-state process documentation: what level of detail is useful, notation choices (swim-lane, BPMN light, structured narrative), and how to capture exceptions and edge cases that rarely appear in process maps but always appear in configuration. Future-state design: drawing a process that reflects Oracle Fusion's actual capability, documenting decisions made and alternatives rejected, and getting sign-off in a way that prevents scope creep later. Translating process to configuration specification: extracting the specific configuration requirements — approval hierarchies, account derivation rules, workflow parameters — and expressing them in a format an implementer can act on. Full exercise: translating a future-state order-to-cash process into a complete configuration specification.
