Information You Provide to Upskill.mu

When you contact Upskill.mu, enquire about a course or workshop, enrol, or ask to be listed as a provider, you may give us information such as your name, email address, telephone number, organisation, the content of your message, and relevant enrolment or provider details.

Some enrolment and instructor-contact routes use forms or services operated by third parties. Where needed to respond to a request or administer a course or workshop, Upskill.mu may receive or share the relevant details as described below.

Website and Technical Information

When you use the website, standard server and security logs may record information such as your IP address, browser and device type, requested pages, date and time, and technical error or security information. We use this information to deliver, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the site.

Professional Information and Outreach

Upskill.mu may identify instructors, trainers, coaches, training providers, academies, and organisations involved in learning or professional development using information they have made publicly available in a professional or business context.

This professional information may include:

• name and professional or business email address;
• organisation and professional role;
• publicly advertised courses, workshops, or training services;
• a public website, profile, listing, or source reference;
• limited internal research or context needed to assess relevance and personalise a message; and
• campaign administration information, such as outreach status, sent time, response, bounce, objection, or opt-out notes.

Sources may include provider or professional websites, publicly accessible professional profiles or organisation pages, business and training directories, and public course or workshop listings. We do not intentionally obtain outreach information from private or password-protected sources, or intentionally collect sensitive or special-category personal data for this outreach.

We use this information to identify providers who may be relevant to Upskill.mu and to make limited professional contact about whether they would be open to being listed on the platform.

How We Use Your Information

Depending on how you interact with us, we use personal information to:

• respond to enquiries and provide requested information;
• administer courses, workshops, enrolments, provider listings, and platform services;
• send course or workshop updates that a learner or subscriber has requested or expressed interest in;
• operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve Upskill.mu;
• identify instructors and training providers that may be relevant to the platform and make limited professional outreach where permitted by applicable law; and
• manage outreach responses, objections, unsubscribes, delivery issues, and suppression records.

We process personal data only where we have an appropriate lawful basis under applicable data-protection and electronic-communications requirements. The applicable basis depends on the context and purpose and may include consent, steps needed to provide a requested service or perform a contract, compliance with a legal obligation, or legitimate interests in appropriate circumstances. The fact that professional information is publicly available does not remove our data-protection obligations or, by itself, provide permission to use it for any purpose.

Administrative and Automated Tools

We may use software and automated tools to help organise outreach information, identify duplicates, check data quality, prioritise potentially relevant providers, and draft or review personalised outreach text. These tools support research and administration; they do not make decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects on outreach recipients.

Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We may share relevant information with an instructor or training provider when you enrol in their course or workshop, contact them, or otherwise ask us to connect you.

Limited personal information may also be processed by service providers needed to run Upskill.mu and its communications. These include website and infrastructure providers, cloud and storage providers, and email and productivity providers. In particular, the website uses Cloudflare infrastructure; Google services may be used for outreach administration, storage, and email delivery; and an email delivery provider may process contact-form messages. We may also disclose information where required by law or necessary to protect legal rights.

Cookies

This website uses minimal cookies required for basic site functionality. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.

Data Retention

We keep personal data only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, subject to any applicable legal or operational need. Contact-form submissions are generally retained for up to 12 months.

Outreach and prospect information should not be kept longer than necessary for the outreach purpose. Inactive information is normally reviewed and deleted within approximately 12 months of collection or the last relevant campaign activity. It may be removed sooner if it is inaccurate, irrelevant, or no longer needed.

After an opt-out, unnecessary prospect information may be removed while a minimal suppression record, such as the email address and opt-out status or date, may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to honour the objection.

Your Rights

Under the Mauritius Data Protection Act 2017, you may have rights to access your personal data and, where applicable, request rectification or erasure, restriction of processing, or object to processing. You may object to direct marketing at any time and may withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. These rights are subject to the conditions and exceptions in applicable law.

International Transfers

Some service providers, including providers of website infrastructure, cloud storage, productivity tools, and email services, operate internationally. Personal data may therefore be processed outside Mauritius. Such processing remains subject to applicable data-protection requirements, and appropriate safeguards will be used where required.
