Overview Inventory accuracy is the foundation of reliable financial reporting, customer satisfaction, and operational efficiency. When inventory transactions are processed incorrectly in NetSuite — wrong quantity, wrong location, wrong item — the consequences cascade through the GL, the fulfilment process, and the customer relationship. This course is built from MIWA and Sugar Industry implementation experience — manufacturing, agriculture, and distribution businesses where inventory accuracy is operationally critical and training gaps cause real financial loss. Every exercise uses realistic scenarios: receiving a partial delivery, processing a return, adjusting stock after a cycle count, and fulfilling a back-ordered customer sales order. Items, inventory & the purchase order cycle (3 hours) The NetSuite item record: item types and what each means operationally — inventory items (tracked in stock), non-inventory items (expensed directly), kit items (bundles), and assembly items (manufactured). Units of measure: primary UoM, secondary UoM, and conversion factors. Item costing methods: average cost, FIFO, LIFO — how each affects the inventory valuation and the GL posting when items are received and sold. The purchase order: creating a PO, selecting the vendor, adding line items with quantity and expected cost, setting the expected receipt date, and submitting for approval. Receiving inventory: the item receipt form, how to receive a full PO, how to receive a partial delivery and leave the remainder open, and what the GL posting looks like. Receiving to a specific location: warehouse locations, bins, and how to split a receipt across multiple locations. Inventory adjustments: creating a manual adjustment to correct a count error, writing off damaged or expired stock, and understanding the GL impact of each adjustment type. The inventory valuation report: what it shows, how it reconciles to the GL, and how to identify discrepancies. Sales orders, fulfilment & the order-to-cash cycle (3 hours) The sales order: creating a SO from a customer request, adding line items, applying pricing, setting ship date, and the link to the customer's credit limit and available credit. Available to promise: how NetSuite shows the current stock level and committed quantity so you can confirm a delivery date before accepting the order. The fulfilment process: picking (creating the pick list), packing (the pack slip), and shipping (the shipment confirmation that triggers the GL). Partial fulfilments: shipping what is available and leaving the remainder on back-order — how the back-order appears on the SO and how to fulfil it when stock arrives. The invoice from a fulfilled order: one click to bill the customer for what was shipped, with the shipped quantity pre-populated. Return authorisations and credit memos: processing a customer return, restocking the item, and issuing the credit. The order fulfilment dashboard: open orders, back-orders, and orders shipped but not yet invoiced. Stock level monitoring: the inventory summary report, the days of supply calculation, and setting up the reorder point alert that notifies the procurement team before a stockout.
