Overview Oracle Integration Cloud — OIC — is Oracle's managed integration platform for connecting Oracle Fusion Cloud to other systems: third-party applications, legacy ERP systems, bank platforms, payment gateways, HR systems, and custom applications. Every Oracle Fusion implementation has integrations. Most underestimate them. The ones built correctly run reliably for years. The ones built badly — using workarounds, FBDI files dropped in object storage, or ad-hoc REST calls without proper error handling — become a maintenance liability within six months. This course teaches Oracle Integration Cloud for Oracle Fusion in the way it needs to be built in practice: starting with architecture decisions (which integration style for which use case), working through the Oracle-native adapters that make Fusion integration easier than generic REST, and covering the error handling, monitoring, and reprocessing capabilities that determine whether an integration is production-ready or merely a proof of concept. We build four real integrations during the course — a bank statement import using FBDI, a supplier master synchronisation from an external supplier management system, a purchase order outbound feed to a procurement platform, and an HCM new hire notification to a payroll processor. Each integration represents a common pattern: inbound bulk data load, bidirectional master data synchronisation, outbound event-driven notification, and scheduled extract to a downstream system. Learning outcomes • Design and build Oracle Integration Cloud integrations for Oracle Fusion using the Fusion application adapter, REST adapter, and FBDI pattern • Build a complete nightly FBDI integration — from file generation through Object Storage upload to Fusion job trigger and error reporting • Build a bidirectional master data synchronisation between Oracle Fusion and an external system with conflict detection and error isolation • Subscribe to Oracle Fusion business events in OIC and trigger downstream integrations in real time when Fusion events occur • Configure OIC monitoring alerts and design error handling that ensures integration failures are detected and reprocessable without data loss • Scope and estimate an integration portfolio for an Oracle Fusion implementation using a structured complexity taxonomy Prerequisites • Working knowledge of at least one Oracle Fusion functional module — Finance, SCM, or HCM — to understand the data being integrated • Basic web integration concepts — what a REST API is, what JSON is, what inbound vs outbound means in an integration context • No prior OIC experience required — though familiarity with any integration platform (MuleSoft, Boomi, Informatica) will accelerate learning Modules 1. OIC architecture, adapters, and integration styles (3 hours) We begin with Oracle Integration Cloud architecture: how OIC works as a managed integration platform, the connection between OIC and Oracle Fusion Cloud, and the three integration styles available — app-driven orchestration (for complex multi-step flows), scheduled orchestration (for batch processes), and event-driven subscription (for real-time Fusion business events). We cover the Oracle Fusion adapter — the native adapter that simplifies Fusion connectivity by generating typed interfaces from Fusion's REST API catalogue rather than requiring manual REST configuration. We work through the four OIC adapters most used with Fusion: the Oracle Fusion application adapter, the REST adapter, the FTP adapter (for FBDI file exchange), and the File adapter. The session ends with integration design principles: idempotency, error isolation, and the retry patterns that make integrations resilient. FBDI — the bulk data loading pattern for Oracle Fusion (3 hours) File-Based Data Import (FBDI) is Oracle Fusion's native bulk data loading mechanism — a structured file format that Fusion processes via a scheduled background job. FBDI is the right answer for: bank statement import, journal import, supplier invoice import, asset mass addition, and any large-volume data load where direct API calls would be too slow. This session covers the FBDI pattern end-to-end: how to structure an FBDI file for each of the supported Fusion objects, how to upload the file to Oracle Object Storage, how to trigger the Fusion import job via REST, and how to monitor the job result and retrieve error reports. We build a complete bank statement import integration that runs on a nightly schedule, handles the Oracle Object Storage interaction, triggers the Bank Statement Import job in Fusion, and sends an email notification with the import results. Orchestration patterns — master data sync, event-driven, and outbound feeds (3 hours) Beyond FBDI, the most common OIC patterns for Fusion are: bidirectional master data synchronisation (keeping supplier or customer records in sync between Fusion and another system), event-driven integration (reacting to Fusion business events — a new purchase order approved, an invoice matched — and triggering a downstream action), and outbound data feeds (extracting Fusion data on a schedule and pushing it to another system). We build all three. The supplier master synchronisation handles create, update, and deactivate in both directions with conflict detection. The purchase order outbound feed uses Fusion's business event subscription to trigger in real time when a PO is approved. The HCM new hire notification extracts new employee records created in a period and sends them in the format required by a payroll processor. We cover the mapping techniques — XSLT for complex transformations, the OIC mapper for simpler field mappings — and the error handling pattern for each. Error handling, monitoring, and integration operations (3 hours) An integration that fails silently is worse than no integration — it gives the appearance of working while quietly corrupting data or missing transactions. This session covers the OIC error handling framework: how to design integrations that fail loudly, retry correctly, and alert the right people when human intervention is needed. We cover the OIC monitoring dashboard: how to read integration instance history, how to filter for failed instances, how to resubmit a failed instance after fixing the root cause, and how to set up monitoring alerts. We cover integration versioning and how to deploy a new version of an integration without interrupting the production version. The session ends with an integration scoping methodology for Oracle implementations: how to identify all integrations in a project, estimate their complexity using a standard taxonomy, and produce an integration inventory that holds up through delivery. Oracle implementations almost universally have more integrations than the original estimate — and the ones that are most complex are discovered latest. This course teaches both the technical skills to build integrations correctly and the project skills to scope and estimate integration work realistically.
