Overview User acceptance testing is the most widely misunderstood phase in an Oracle implementation. Most UAT cycles are too short, test the wrong things, and produce a defect log rather than a confidence statement. Business users dutifully click through scripts they do not understand, sign off on scenarios that do not reflect their actual work, and then discover on day two of production that the system does not handle the thing they actually do every day. This course teaches UAT design from first principles: what UAT is actually for (validating that the configured system meets business requirements), how to design test scenarios that map to real business processes rather than system walkthrough steps, how to write test scripts that a business user who is not a system tester can execute, and how to run a UAT cycle that produces a clear go/no-go recommendation rather than an open-ended defect list. We work through the UAT design framework: how to map business processes to test scenarios, how to select the scenarios that cover the highest-risk and highest-volume transactions rather than trying to test everything, and how to structure the test cycle — rounds, entry criteria, and the exit criteria that define when UAT is complete. We then cover test script writing: the difference between a system walkthrough script (which a consultant could execute) and a business validation script (which confirms that the business requirement is met). We work through four test script examples — an AP invoice payment run, an OTBI report validation, a monthly payroll run, and a project invoice generation — showing how to write each as a business validation rather than a click-by-click walkthrough. We end with UAT execution: how to brief business user testers, how to manage defect triage (distinguishing genuine defects from training gaps and change requests), and how to produce the go/no-go recommendation that the project board needs.
